Daglo visits Sudanese Studies Center at Russian State University for Humanitie

Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo has visited the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow and the university’s Sudanese Studies Center, as the first independent scientific center, during which he was accompanied by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Russia, Ambassador Onour Ahmed Onour.

His Excellency heard a thorough briefing from the Rector of the University, Professor Alexander Bezborodov, on the scientific march of the University, as well as the emergence and development of the Center for the Study of Sudanese Civilizations.

The Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council praised the advanced level witnessed by the Sudanese-Russian relations in various fields, especially in its cultural and scientific aspect, and the care provided by the Russian government to the Sudanese students, expressing his welcome to the convening of the governmental ministerial economic and cultural committee in Khartoum in the middle of this year.

He referred to the joint cooperation in the field of antiquities through the presence of Russian

archaeological excavation missions in the Sudanese States of River Nile, the Northern and Red Sea, which in turn contributed to the establishment of an independent center for Sudanese studies, affirming support to the center to be a reference for students and researchers in Russian universities.

On his part, Professor Bezborodov stressed that the center is the first of its kind at the level of Russian universities for the study of ancient Sudanese civilizations, praising the visit of the Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council to the university, noting that the visit constitutes a great boost to the university and the center.

He called for the need to expand the umbrella of exchange of scholarships for students to support scientific research in the two countries
