Daglo: Sudanese – Russian Relations are Historic and Deeply Rooted

Vice – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, has described Sudanese – Russian relations as deeply rooted and historic and based on cooperation and mutual respect.

In a press statement at Khartoum Airport upon his return Wednesday afternoon from Russia, the Vice – President said that he held meetings with a number of Russian officials and discussed diplomatic and economic issues and the exchange in the fields of national security and the combat of terrorism between the two countries.

He said that the Russian Business Council, which includes 55 governmental and private economic institutions has expressed readiness to invest in Sudan, pointing out that the ministers accompanying to him have held constructive and fruitful meetings with their Russian counterparts, referring to the efforts to facilitate the investment program and law to pave the way for investment in Sudan.

Daglo pointed to the meeting with the Sudanese community in Russia, indicating that he acquainted them with the current situation in Sudan, adding that he was informed on the problems facing the community in Russia.

He called on the Sudanese people to reach agreement and a joint Sudanese-Sudanese accord, hoping that the Sudanese people will not listen to rumors and those with agendas.

The Vice – President said

that he met head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, Abbas Kamel, the Egyptian government delegation and members of the embassy during his transit journey through the Arab Republic of Egypt, and discussed Sudanese issues, dialogue and consensus between the people of Sudan and the necessity of sticking to wisdom and reason.

It is to be noted that the Vice – President’s visit was within the framework of the exchange of visions and discussing ways to strengthen the cooperation between Sudan and Russia in various fields.

The visit was also aimed for consultations on the bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual  concern.
