Daglo: Sudan is keen to develop its relations with Italy

The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, has affirmed Sudan’s keenness to develop and strengthen its relations with Italy in all fields to achieve the common interests of the two countries.

This came when the Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council received in his office at the Republican Palace today the Italian Ambassador to Sudan Gianluigi Vassallo, on the occasion of the expiry of his assignment to the country, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dafalla Al-Hajj Ali, and the Director of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Khaled Moussa.

Daglo valued Italy’s continued efforts to support the stability of Sudan, referring to the strategic and fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the fields of combating illegal migration, and in the health and humanitarian fields.

He called on Italy and the international community to continue supporting Sudan and its people to complete the process of democratic transition, noting that Sudan is open to all countries of the world within the framework of its relations based on mutual respect and common interests.

For his part, Ambassador Vassallo expressed his appreciation to the Sudanese government and people for the cooperation and respect he found throughout his work in Khartoum, stressing that it was a unique experience that witnessed great development in relations between the two countries, reiterating his country’s support for Sudan’s efforts to achieve stability and democratic transition, and its continued cooperation with it in the field of combating illegal migration, noting that his country has allocated about a quarter of a million euros to support those affected by disasters in Sudan.
