he Vice – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, met Saturday evening the visiting delegation of the African Union Commission, headed by the commission’s Chairperson, Moussa Faki.

The meeting was attended by the AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Bankole Adeoye, the Director of the Chamber of the Chairperson of the Commission, Mohamed El Hassan Ould Lebat, the Special Representative of the African Union to Sudan, Ambassador Mohamed Belaiche, as well as the Director of African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hassan Abdul Salam Omer.

The Vice – President of the Sovereignty Council has welcomed the visit of the delegation of the African Union Commission to Sudan, praising the great and growing role that the African Union has been playing in addressing the many problems facing the African countries.

He gave a full briefing to the delegation of the AU Commission on the situation in the country, focusing on the current political crisis.

He declared Sudan welcome to any role that the African Union could play to bring the views of the Sudanese parties closer, stressing the importance of dialogue as a basic entry point for resolving all existing differences, with the participation of all the Sudanese people.

He affirmed the commitment to the democratic transformation

and holding elections in the country at the end of the transitional period.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission referred to the positive role played by the Union to reconcile the Sudanese parties in the year 2019, indicating that the visit to Sudan aims to closely monitor the situation and to listen to all Sudanese parties.

He said that the delegation did not come up with prior solutions for the Sudanese crisis, pointing out that after their return, they may formulate practical proposals for a solution.
