Ali Koshaib to Appear before ICC in Hague on Monday

The accused Ali Mohamed Ali Mohamed Ali Abdul-Rahman (Koshaib), who is Suspected of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur during 2003-2004 is due to appear next Monday before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague, the Netherlands.

Koshaib, 72 years old, faces 53 charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur from during August 2003 and March 2004.

The first arrest warrant against Koshaib was issued by the International Criminal Court on April 27, 2007 and the second arrest warrant was issued on June 11, 2020.

The accused Ali Mohamed Ali Abdul-Rahman (Koshaib) was transferred to the custody of the Criminal Court in The Hague on June 9, 2020 after he voluntarily surrendered himself in the Central African Republic.

Ali Koshaib appeared before the International Criminal Court in the first court sitting on June 15, 2020, where the court decided to separate his case from the case of Ahmed Mohamed Haroun, because Haroun was not yet delivered to the court.

It is to be noted that the four accused persons who are wanted by the ICC include, in addition to Ali Koshaib, the leader of ousted regime Omer Al-Bashir, the Wali (governor) of North Darfur State, Ahmed Mohamed Haroun, the former minister of defence, Abdul-Rahim Mohamed Hussein, and a leader of an outlaw’s movement in Darfur, Abdalla Banda.
