Al-Rasheed Saeed: Stopping wars best service for environment

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information Al-Rasheed Saeed Yagoub has affirmed that the biggest service that is to be provided to the environment is to stop wars and their effects of displacement and other environmental destructors to maintain balance of the ecosystem.

The Undersecretary praised introduction of the environmental component as an important factor in the establishment of any economic project, stressing the importance of international cooperation to solve environmental problems, as 90% of them are international.

This came in a celebration marking the World Environment Day organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information in cooperation with the Sudanese Society for Afforestation today at the premises of the Ministry.

Meanwhile, Director of Specialized Media Department Amal Mohamed Noureen reviewed the programs organized by the department in the context of the celebrations of the World Environment Day, and pointed out to importance of shedding light on various environmental issues and activating the role of the Ministry of Information in awareness-raising work in the field of environmental conservation.

Speakers at the occasion also included Deputy Director General of the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources of Khartoum State Tariq Hamadnalla and representative of the secretary general of the Higher Council for Environment Zainab Salih Mohamed who stressed the importance of the role of the media in raising public awareness on environmental issues and referred to the national theme of the celebrations of ‘prevention of violations against natural reserves’.

It is noteworthy that World Environment Day of the United Nations is observed on 5 June every year across the globe.

The theme of World Environment Day 2021 is ‘Ecosystem restoration.’
