Al-Burhan receives written message from President of South Sudan

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan has received a written message from the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, dealing with bilateral relations between the two countries, political developments in Sudan and South Sudan and progress of implementation of Juba Agreement on Peace in Sudan.

In the message, President Salva Kiir affirmed he is to visit Sudan as soon as possible.

Al-Burhan, during his meeting today with South Sudan Presidential Adviser Tut Gatluak, who handed him the message, praised the great efforts made by the Republic of South Sudan to achieve peace and stability in Sudan.

Al-Burhan affirmed their full keenness to implement the peace agreement signed in Juba and to complete the file of security arrangements.

The President of the Sovereignty Council stressed the need for the committees to solve the issues of Abyei area to carry out their work to establish security, stability and community peace in the area.

In a press statement, Gatluak said that the meeting discussed the political developments in Sudan and South Sudan, noting that he briefed the President of the Sovereignty Council on the implementation of the South-South Agreement, given that Sudan is a guarantor of the agreement

He affirmed South Sudan’s support for the Sudanese-Sudanese solution, pointing to President Salva Kiir’s keenness to coordinate and cooperate with the international and regional community to resolve the issue from within in order to overcome the economic and political crisis in Sudan.

“The common destiny of the peoples of the two countries requires their governments to coordinate and cooperate in all issues of common concern,” Gatluak said.

He reiterated keenness of the Republic of South Sudan to sit with all Sudanese political forces to reach solutions that satisfy all parties.
