Al-Burhan: Our Aim is to Enable People to Hold Election by End of Transitional Period

Khartoum, (SUNA) – Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and General Commander of the, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, has affirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to protect the change that was achieved and its bias to the will of the people without responding to the attempts of blackmail and political polarization.

In his address Sunday to the officers, non-commissioned officers at Khartoum North Military Area, Lt. Gen. Al-Burhan pledged to complete the requirements of change and achieve its goals aimed for creating a suitable environment for the Sudanese people to hold elections and to choose who governs them at the end of the transitional period.

He pointed to the critical stage that the country is going through which requires more solidarity, concerted efforts and the adherence of the armed forces to its duties to contribute to the overcoming all challenges and moving the country from this stage.

On the issue of peace, Al-Burhan affirmed that Sudan has been waiting for peace a long time since independence, asserting the resolution to achieve a just peace that meets the aspiration of the people of Sudan and remove the causes of internal wars.
