Al-Atta Participates in Inauguration of Djibouti President

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lt. Gen. Yasser Al-Atta, Saturday participated at the ceremony for the inauguration of the Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh, for a new five-year term.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the Republican Palace in Djibouti with the wide participation of heads of states and governments, led by the Kenyan President, the Ethiopian Prime Minister, the Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan along with a number of delegations and representatives of Arab and African governments.

In his speech after taking oath, President Guelleh mourned the late Chadian President Idriss Deby, affirming firmness of his country’s African, Arab and Islamic affiliations, stressing his country’s adherence to these affiliations that represent fruitful diversity and a source of vitality to Djibouti.

He pointed to importance of Djibouti’s location, stating that his country has established its position as an international center for logistic and ports services, indicating that needs more investment, services and digital communications, and to benefit and exploit the huge potential of renewable energy.

The President of Djibouti expressed his grave concern over the violations that the Palestinian people are facing, indicating that his country has been calling for a just political solution to the conflict and an end to the Israeli occupation
