Al-Atta: Armed Forces have No Ambition to Rule the country

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Yasser Al-Atta, has called for the rejection of tribalism, regionalism and racism, avoiding the hate speech and stressed the importance of equality between the people of one country and the addressing of grievances.

This came in his address Saturday to the launching of Dar Beri area for support to peace, development and social co-existence in North Darfur State, in the presence of the member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Al-Tahir Hajar, a number of members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Khartoum, organizations, businessmen and charity men, in addition to leaders of the civil administration and citizens of the area.

Gen. Al-Atta called for reconstruction of what was destroyed by the war in the Dar Beri area, affirming the Armed Forces’ readiness to contribute to the campaign.

He stressed that the armed forces have no aspirations to rule the country, and that it has contributed to success of the December revolution since its inception, and that the Armed Forces will work to hand over power to the people in order to lead to free and fair elections through the ballot boxes, and to achieve the aspirations of the people for freedom and democracy.

Gen. Al-Atta pointed out that the process of building the country is arduous and difficult, and it must be carried out by defiance and a spirit that does not know surrender, pointing to the unity of the Armed Forces under one command and one institution, and that the Armed Forces is proud of its historical and constitutional duties.

On his part, the Minister of Urban Development, Roads and Bridges and chairman of the higher committee for the Dar Beri campaign, Abdalla Ahmed Yahia, said that this effort is one of the fruits of the peace after the Juba

agreement for peace in Sudan, affirming that it is necessary to mobilize the resolve for the sake of building and reconstruction.

He said that 90 projects in the context of the campaign were designed, studied and approved by the official authorities for implementation.

It is to be recalled that the four million dollars were donated by state leaders, philanthropists and businessmen to establish service and development projects in the area.
