Abdul-Basit Hamza Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

) – A court issued on Monday a sentence of 10-year imprisonment against the accused Abdul-Basit Hamza.

The court convicted Hamza of illegal wealth, not presenting a declaration of wealth, and giving a false statement to a public servant, in addition to his conviction of violating the Act for Money Laundering and Combating of Terrorism law, in addition to his violation of the Act for Regulating the Dealing in Foreign Currency.

The Special Court, meeting in Central Khartoum North Criminal Court, headed by Appeal Judge Abdul-Moneim Abdul-Latif Ahmed, imposed a fine against the convict Hamza or imprisonment for more 12 months in the case of failure to pay, provided that the penalties are to be applied sequentially.

Regarding the confiscation of properties, the court stated that the Empowerment Dismantling Committee has previously recovered the according to a valid law.
