Volker: Presence of many armies in one country represents a threat to the stability

The Head of the United Nations Integrated Transitional Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), Volker Perthes has outlined that the mission monitors the cease-fire process, implementation of the partnership, the capacity building of police and judiciary and the rule of law.

Volker said in press conference held, Tuesday, in the UNITAMS HQs, in Khartoum, that the effective participation of woman is linked to the mission’s four strategic goals.

.He acknowledged that there are real challenges facing the transition in Sudan, describing it as an obstacle to the country’s progress.

The International official expressed concern over the delay in implementing the Juba Peace Agreement, especially, the issue of security arrangements, indicating that there are those who refer to the delay in implementing the security arrangements to the lack of resources, while others point to a lack of political will.
