US Provides COVID-19 Vaccines to Sudan, Supports Elections Commission

The United States  of America  announced support to Sudan in areas of health , elections,  rural development and implementation  of family  support program along with urgently  dispatching a plane  loaded with COVID-19 vaccines as  contribution  to  support Sudan efforts  to combat the pandemic ,besides providing financial support to Sudan in all domains.

The United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Administrator Ms. Samantha Power, said a plane loaded with 600 thousand doses  of COVID-19 vaccine  will  arrive in Khartoum within  the coming two days  as  implementation to directives of the US President, Joe Bidden as part of US contribution to  combat the pandemics the world-wide

Ms Samantha announced during a lecture she gave at Khartoum University, Tuesday that the  United States would also  provide  56 million dollars  in  support of the peripheral and  marginalized areas  in Sudan  for providing  basic services there.

The American official added that the USAID would also provide 4.3 million dollars as contribution to establish   a commission that would work for preparing and organizing elections in Sudan  after the end   of the transitional period  in the country.

Samantha pointed to  the efforts of the government of Sudan to lessen impact of removal  of  subsidies  from a group of services  and affirmed that her country  would support the transitional government led  by Dr Hamdouk

She said that her  country is  determined to support Sudan in  the various fields , particularly in the agricultural area  along with  working to set up an agency  for development of agriculture in Sudan.

Samantha underscored  the USAID support to civil society organizations which have played major role  in  success of the  Sudanese revolution which have become a model   to be followed.
