The British Government has confirmed its support to the Sudan and the Sudanese people to realize the democratic transition.
The British Charge d’Affairs in Khartoum said on her Tweeter account, Tuesday. That Sudan transition to democracy, peace and prosperity requested the same courage, spirit of cooperation, participation and trust which made the constitution two years ago.
The British Charge d’ Affairs, Louise Walker commenting on the Second anniversary for signing the Constitutional Document has pointed out that the United Kingdom remains committed to support the Government of Sudan and its people.
She indicated that on this day, two years ago, something exceptional happened when the ruling Military Council and the civil forces of freedom and change officially signed a Constitutional Document for the transitional period and the Sudanese gathered to agree on a roadmap to move the country away from years of misrule, conflict and marginalization toward hope, recovery and a brighter future.
“We should remember the importance of that event. Weeks before the signing, the optimism disappeared because of the violent dispersal of the sit-in, in Khartoum , on June 32019, but despite the shocking incident , the revolutionaries committed to talks that led to the acceptance of the civilian and military leaders to the Constitutional Document, a matter that paved the way for democracy, peace and joint prosperity.
The British diplomat underlined the achievements made during the last two years top of which the recent initiative launched by the Prime Minister, Dr.Abdalla Hamdouk , adding that there is still a lot of work to do until all of Sudan’s citizens feel the promises of peace, democracy and justice, including the millions who need humanitarian assistance and those who have been displaced or live in conflict-hit areas.
