UN Secretary General Calls for Resuming Negotiations on Renaissance Dam

Khartoum,   (SUNA) – The United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, has called for resuming the negotiations on the Renaissance Dam, which have been stalled since last April.

During a meeting with the Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen, the UN Secretary General stressed the importance of resuming the negotiations between the three countries – Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia on the Renaissance Dam, in a spirit of compromise.

The UN Secretary General affirmed the United Nations’ support for the mediation efforts of the African Union for achieving a solution which is satisfactory for all parties
