Thousands of Ethiopian Refugees Cross Into Sudan

Kassala (SUNA) – More than 5,000 of the Ethiopian refugees including a big number of women and children who fled the war in the Ethiopian region of Tigri arrived in Kassala and Gadarif while, the governments of the two states started to take practical steps to host the newcomers in makeshift areas.

Kassala government and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNCHR) agreed on speeding up the necessary arrangements for preparing the camps and provide services for the continuous influxes of the refugees who fled the conflict which broke out in their country.

Meeting of the Governments of the states neighboring Ethiopia and the UNCHR held, Thursday, discussed the detailed plans for streamlining the situation of the refugees and transport them to the permanent camps, besides the separation of the militants from the civilians.
