The FM Assistant Undersecretary for political Affairs, Ambassador Elham Ibrahim met, Thursday, the Team formed by the UN Security Council on Darfur Sanctions.
The visit aims at assessing the situations in Darfur and submitting recommendations to the Security Council including the different political, security and humanitarian axes to enable the council to consider termination of the mandate of the Sanctions Committee and its expert team.
Ambassador Elham delivered a full presentation to the major changes in the country and the positive developments since the advent of December Revolution.
The UN group of experts said that, through their field visit to Darfur, and their observation of the situation in the camps, they saw positive progress and development, but indicated that there are aspects that still require more work, noting in this context the delay in implementing the security arrangements agreement and its repercussions.
The team also stressed the need to expedite the completion of Deployment of the joint forces to protect civilians.
