The European Union welcomes Sudan’s transition to the “HIPC” stage

– The European Union welcomed the announcement that Sudan had successfully reached the decision point within the framework of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) initiative

The Union considered that this is another milestone in Sudan’s transition towards democratic governance and economic recovery thanks to the tremendous efforts and commitment of the Sudanese people and the transitional government allowing Sudan to significantly reduce its total debt and obtain much-needed funding from international financial institutions.
