A session of talks was held Monday between the Sudanese and Egyptian sides on the cooperation at the transport field, co-chaired by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructures, Engineer Mirghan Musa, and the Egyptian Minister of Transport, Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir.
The Egyptian Minister of Transport expressed at outset of the session the readiness of his country to meet all Sudan’s needs in the field of transport to enhance the transport sector between Egypt and Sudan, affirming the availability of the will to develop the transport sector between the two countries.
He said that Wadi Halfa Port will be developed as soon as possible, and the emergency plan proposed by the Sudanese side will be implemented immediately to develop and to operate the port.
Eng. Kamel Al Wazir stressed the importance of enhancement of the Nile River Valley Commission for Navigation and its barges.
The Director General of the Sudan Railways Corporation, Engineer Walid Mahmoud Ahmed, gave a presentation at the session on the areas of cooperation in the transport sector between the two countries, as well as the railways link and the proposed routes for its implementation.
Meanwhile, the Sudanese Minister of Transport affirmed the availability of will at the Ministries of Transport in the two countries for cooperation in the transport field, expressing his ministry’s readiness for quick implementation of the joint projects.
He stated that the partnership between Egypt and Sudan in the field of transport reflects the desire of the two countries to consolidate relations between them in all fields, indicating that the Nile Valley Commission should be a model for real partnership between Egypt and Sudan.
