Sudan and UN Cooperation discussed

Khartoum,  (SUNA) – The First Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council Lt-General, Mohammed Hamdan Daglo has affirmed the importance of strengthening the cooperation and coordination between Sudan and the United Nations concerning building of peace and realization of development.

Daglo who received today at his office, in the Republican Palace, the Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean- Pierre Lacroix in the Presence of Foreign Minister, Dr. Mariam Al-Sadig Al-Mahdi commended the role played by the UNAMID in Darfur and the UNISFA forces in maintaining peace and security in Abyei area.

The UN official said in press statements that the meeting affirmed the fruitful cooperation between Sudan government and UN in many fields, adding that the meeting also tackled Abyei issue in the light of the distinguished relation between Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan, assuring the continuation of the international mission work in the area.

He expressed pleasure over visiting Sudan, describing his meetings with the government senior officials as “ fruitful and constructive”
