Sudan and Egypt Assure Commitment to Boost Trade Exchange between them

Khartoum, Aug. 15 (SUNA) – The Sudanese and Egyptian governments, represented by the Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, and his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Mustafa Madbouli, have affirmed their commitment to strengthening the trade exchange between the two countries.

During the official talks held between the Sudanese and Egyptian sides on Saturday at the Friendship Hall, the two sides discussed frameworks and proposals for boosting the cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the coming stage.

Ministers from both sides held bilateral meetings to review proposals and detailed programs for cooperation between counterpart ministries.

At the conclusion of the talks, the Sudanese and Egyptian sides agreed to develop an action plan to overcome the obstacles that obstruct the flow of commercial movement, especially with regard to transport routes leading to the land ports, and discussed ways to enhance the cooperation in the field of investment and the opportunities for Egyptian companies to invest in a number of areas of strategic importance to Sudan.

The two sides also discussed means for strengthening the cooperation in the field of transport and agreed to restructure the Nile Valley Authority for River Navigation and to raise its competitiveness and to enhance its fleet, in addition to reactivating the permanent Joint Sudanese – Egyptian Technical Committee. The two sides also discussed a railways link project between the two countries, in a way that contributes to opening wider horizons for economic and trade cooperation between Sudan and Egypt.

The Sudanese and Egyptian parties discussed ways to develop the cooperation in the fields of maritime navigation and benefiting from the ports of the two countries on the Red Sea.

The two sides also discussed updating the cooperation agreement on land transport signed between the two countries and introducing the required amendments with the aim to improve services.

The two sides reviewed the cooperation in the field of health between the two countries, as the Sudanese side expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian side for the good and close cooperation, especially the recent Egyptian aid to confront the coronavirus pandemic.

They also agreed to cooperate in the field of disease control, review the framework for sending specialized Egyptian medical convoys, support to the capacity building in Sudan and to enhance Sudan’s benefiting from the initiative of Egypt President Abdul-Fattah El-Sisi, to treat one million Africans from virus C.

The Egyptian side announced its readiness to coordinate with the Sudanese side to contribute to the treatment of the injured persons in the glorious December revolution.
