Prof. Abass leaves for New York for SC Session on Renaissance Dam

Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Prof. Yasser Abbas left, Monday night for the US to participate in the UN Security Council session on the Renaissance Dam File scheduled for next Thursday, July 8 in New York.

Prof. Abass underlined in press conference he held, before departure, described the SC response for Sudan’s request for holding a session on the Renaissance Dam File, under Article (6) of the UN Charter as important achievement for the Sudan’s diplomacy and a clear confirmation of Sudan’s argument that the second unilateral filling represents a threat to regional peace and security, pointing to Sudan’s push for four demands represented in holding a session to discuss the crisis , preventing Ethiopia from taking unilateral measures, transforming the role of the Quartet Committee to mediators led by the African Union instead of the role of observers and the invitation of the United Nations and the African Union to help advance negotiations between the three countries.
