President Deby Affirms Chad Commitment To Support Implementation of Peace Agreement

Juba(SUNA) – The President of Chad, Idris Deby, stressed that Chad and Sudan are linked to each other Sudan by a common destiny, affirming his country’s support for stability in Sudan as it is considered stability for Chad.

In his address at the celebration marking the final signing of the peace agreement in Juba Saturday, President Deby directed an urgent call on the international community to provide the necessary support for achieving peace in Sudan and guaranteeing stability of the countries of the region, stating that the contribution of the international community to the stability of Sudan is important.

He eexpressed his satisfaction on the holding of the peace signing ceremony Saturday in Juba, indicating that the agreement was an inevitable result of continuous efforts exerted by the Sudanese parties.

The Chadian President called on the non-signatory movements headed by the Sudan Liberation Movement leader, Abdul-Wahid Mohamed Nour, and the People’s Liberation Movement led by Abdul Aziz Al-Hillu to join the peace process, affirming the necessity of strengthening efforts to reach a comprehensive and just peace that meets the aspirations of the Sudanese people.

He said that Africans and other partners are committed to supporting the Sudan Peace Agreement because of its impact on the regional situation, noting that the progress made towards peace came as a result of the determination of the Sudanese to achieve peace.

He praised the efforts of the Republic of South Sudan, represented by President Salva Kiir Mayardit, which contributed to the convergence of views and facilitated the process for achieving the peace agreement.
