oreign Minister meets US Charge d’Affaires

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mariam Al Sadiq Al-Mahdi received at her office here today the Charge d’Affaires of US Embassy in Khartoum, Brian Shukan.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the great development in bilateral relations between Sudan and the United States of America and thanked the American side for the continuous support it has provided to the Sudanese people and the transitional government.

The minister briefed the American Charge d’Affaires on the latest developments in the files of the Renaissance Dam and the border issues between Sudan and Ethiopia, explaining that Sudan was and still is open to all initiatives to reach solutions through dialogue and negotiations, but the persistent obstinacy of the Ethiopian side prevented benefitting from these initiatives, stressing the importance of rebuilding trust between the technical and political work teams to reach satisfactory solutions for all parties.

For his part, the US Charge d’Affaires emphasized that the United States would continue to support the transitional government and democratic transition in Sudan.
