National Commission for Human Rights Condemns Assassination of Seven Captive Soldiers and Civilian Citizen

The National Commission for Human Rights issued on Tuesday a press statement condemning the assassination of seven soldiers and a civilian citizen who were captured by the Ethiopian forces.

The commission wished mercy for the victims and expressed its concern on this incident.

The commission stressed in a statement that the principles of the International Humanitarian Law are obligatory to all countries and should be respected, stating that these principles organize the fighting methods and protect the injured, the sick, the drowned, the captives and civilians, adding that what has taken place was a violation of the principles of the international humanitarian laws, pointing out that the commission is looking forward for the Ethiopian National Institution for Human Rights to play a role in the investigation.

The National Commission for Human Rights affirmed that Sudan maintains the right to take legal and diplomatic procedures to prevent impunity and reputation of like such painful and condemned event.

The commission has welcomed the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concerning Sudan’s respect to the Ethiopians resident in Sudan, calling on all people to respect and protect the rights of all the residents in the Sudanese territories.
