Ministers of Health and Interior Informed on Health Conditions in Kassala State

The Ministers of Interior and Health have got informed on the overall health conditions in Kassala State and the problems that faced the health work in the past period, as well as the visions, solutions and proposals that contribute to the stability of the health sector, a matter that will be reflected in the societal security in the state.

This took place at a meeting held on Saturday between the visiting Minister of Interior, Gen. Izz-Eddin Al-Sheikh and the Minister of Health, Dr. Omer Al-Najeeb with the Wali (governor) of Kassala State, Al-Tayeb Mohamed Al-Sheikh, and senior heath cadres of the state.

The two ministers heard a comprehensive briefing from the Director General of the state’s Ministry of Health and Social Development, Dr. Muntaser Ibrahim, along with the directors of the departments of the ministry about the requirements for enhancing the health work at the levels of infrastructure, the provision of health cadres and aid, as well as the problems and causes of deficiencies in the provision of services to the citizens, especially at Kassala Teaching Hospital, which Witnessed repeated doctors’ strikes.

The meeting also touched on the negative impacts resulting from the refugee flows in large numbers to the state, especially recently from the State of Ethiopia, on the health sector.

The Minister of Health pointed to the vision and commitment of the transitional government to enhancement of the health sector in the country level by providing health services and rehabilitating the health centers as well as addressing basic problems and to prepare a specific emergency action plan to be implemented and adhered to by all parties.
