Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources meets EU Ambassador

Khartoum,  (SUNA) – Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Prof. Yasser Abbas has  said that the second filling of the Renaissance Dam, which was undertaken by Ethiopia without reaching a legal agreement and exchange of information between the three countries, harmed Sudan.

The minister discussed during his meeting yesterday in his office with the Head of Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Sudan, Robert van den Dool, the situation and developments after the second filling of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, explaining that the work carried out by the technical engineering team of the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources by analyzing satellite images reduced the catastrophic effects that would have occurred on Sudan.

Prof. Abbas also touched on the challenges facing his ministry.

For his part, the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sudan promised to cooperate and provide the necessary support to the ministry in the field of capacity building for the success of the transitional government.
