Judge of June 30, 1989 coup case requests recusal

The Judge trying the case of perpetrators of June 30, 1989 coup today presented a recusal request to the Chief Justice as he adjourned today’s session of the trial to August 10, 2021.

The judge explained that he decided to adjourn the trial session for a period of two weeks to give the Chief Justice enough time to decide on the recusal request.

The prosecution panel had requested in previous sessions of the trial the Acting Chief Justice to recuse the judge.
