ICC Prosecutor visits N. Darfur State

The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Ms. Fatou Bensouda, started today historic visit to Darfur region as an extension to her first visit to Sudan last October.

Ms. Bensouda started her tour to Darfur by a visit to Al-Fashir, capital of North Darfur State, where she met with Wali (governor) of the state Mohamed Hassan Arabi, who affirmed support to what had been agreed upon in Juba agreement on peace in Sudan, calling for appearance of all accused persons before the ICC.

The ICC Prosecutor completed her visit to Al-Fashir by holding a meeting with representatives of the IDPs, where she affirmed her concern with cases of gender-based violence.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ms. Bensouda voiced thanks to the transitional government for coordinating the visit and the participants for their keenness on realizing justice.
