Hamdouk Meets US Special Envoy To Sudan

Khartoum (SUNA) – Prime Minister Dr. Abdallah Hamdouk met at his office Thursday with US Special Envoy to Sudan Ambassador Donald Booth, in the presence of Cabinet Affairs Minister Ambassador Omer Manis and acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Omer Gammar-Eddin.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways and means of developing them in light of the new developments that included removal of the name of Sudan from list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

This is besides working with the American and international financial institutions and creation of investment opportunities in Sudan.

The meeting, further, discussed other issues pertinent to the peace file, end of the mandate of UNAMID mission by the end of next December and the start of work of United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS) at the beginning of the New Year.

The meeting also discussed the crisis in Ethiopia and its possible effects on the neighboring countries, including Sudan.

For his part, the US envoy indicated that major American companies including General Electric, Bechtel and Boeing, are looking forward to invest in Sudan.
