Hamdouk Affirms Government Commitment to Respecting Human Rights

Khartoum, (SUNA) – The Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, has assured the transitional government’s commitment to respect human rights in Sudan as a fundamental right of life for all citizens.

This came when he received Wednesday at his office a delegation of Human Rights Watch International headed by the organization’s Executive Director, Kenneth Roth, in the presence of the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Ambassador Omer Bashir Manis, and the State Minister for Affairs, Dr. Omer Gamar-Eddin.

The Prime Minister welcomed the delegation, stressing the readiness to fully cooperate with them and to facilitate their mission in order to determine the human rights situation in the country.

The delegation of the Human Rights Watch praised the positive changes that the country has witnessed after the Sudanese revolution, especially with regard to the human rights dossier, stressing its unlimited support to the transitional government in this aspect through the organization’s country office in Sudan.
