Governor of S.Darfur meets USAID delegation

The Acting Wali (governor) of South-Darfur state, Bashir Mursal Hassaballa, met today in the capital Nyala the  Deputy Director of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in East and Central Africa.

The meeting discussed cooperation between the American Agency and the government of S. Darfur State the acess of the humanitarian aid the needy people.

Hassaballa affirmed in statement to SUNA the state’s government committment to facilitate missions of the American Agency and the humanitarian organizations to reach the displaced people and the refugees as well as making the humanitarian assistance access to the affected population there as soon as possible.

The Governor praised the big role played by USAID  in South Darfur State for providing food, water and sheltering materials.

He asserted work with international organizations to reconstruct Umdafoq dam which was destroyed by rains and flood recently.

On his part the Deputy Director of  USAID for East and Central Arica affirmed the American government  committment of continuity of the gradual flow  of humanitarian assistance to  the needy people in the state until  they become  producers and able to assist themselves.
