Gezira Scheme, French FGM International Sign Memo of Understanding

Gezira Scheme and French FGM International signed a memorandum of understanding today at Gezira scheme office in Khartoum.

The Governor of Gezira Scheme Dr. Omer Mohamed Marzuq signed for Sudan, while the French Ambassador to Sudan, Emmanuelle Blatmann signed for her country.

Dr. Marzuq expressed his thank to France for its efforts in supporting the Gezira Scheme.

He said the signing of the memorandum was a result of studies conducted by a French delegation that visited the country couple of months ago.

The Memorandum according to Marzuq was signed in order to introduce the French technology for developing the agriculture in the scheme for a period of 18 months during which he said the mechanized farming system would be introduced.

He said according to the agreement 5000 and 16 000 acres are targeted in Gezira scheme and    Managil respectively.

The  French Ambassador, on her part,  welcomed the signing of the memorandum saying it represents the deeply-rooted relationship that exists between the two countries, particularly after the  changet took place, recently in Sudan.

The French diplomat promised that her country would continue cooperation with Sudan in various fields through supporting the transitional government
