Juba, (SUNA) – The government delegation, headed by the member of the Sovereign Council, Gen. Shams-Eddin Kabbashi, and leaders of East Sudan track Monday held a session of talks at Pyramid Hotel in Juba, in the presence of the head of South Sudan mediation and Advisor of South Sudan President, Tut Gulwak.
In a press statement, Gen. Kabbashi said that negotiation session started Monday with Darfur and East Sudan tracks, while arrangements were made and technical committees were formed regarding the track of the two areas regarding the People’s Movement – North (Makik Aggar faction).
He described the negotiation session on the East track as distinguished, indicating that the session was attended by a large delegation of leaders of the native administrations in east Sudan.
He said that the discussion was constructive and consensual within the components of the East track, and that the negotiations have made strides to reach an agreement that addresses all issues of east Sudan.
On the negotiations on the People’s Movement – North (Abdul-Aziz Al-Hillu faction), the member of the Transitional Sovereign Council explained that the matter is subject to the assessment and arrangement of mediation and that the government delegation is ready at any time.
Gen. Kabbashi revealed that the government delegation for the negotiations has asked the mediation and brothers in the People’s Movement – North (Al-Hillu faction) to respond to a question that was submitted to mediation, which related to explaining the movement’s position on the video issued and circulated widely more than three weeks ago.
He said that the southern mediation informed the government delegation that the People’s Movement – North will respond in writing, but the government delegation was surprised at the session that the movement apologized for its inability to respond, indicating that the government delegation affirmed that it did not ask for an apology, but for explanation of the movement’s position on the video and whether it reflects the vision the movement, or is it a personal position of Muhamed Jalal Hashim.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of East Sudan native administrations’ delegation, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sheikh, has praised the good spirit that prevailed at the negotiation sitting, indicating that the two parties would shortly achieve agreement.
He appreciated the good understanding of the Sovereign Council to the issues of East Sudan.
The chief of South Sudan mediation, Tut Gulwak, said that the meeting has tackled all the issues of East Sudan, including the issues of health, education and the war-affected areas, adding that the government delegation has responded positively to all the issues raised during the negotiations for achieving peace and rehabilitation of East Sudan.
Gulwak has announced formation of a joint committee to formulate the agreement, adding that the agreement on the East Track would be signed in the coming two days.
