France Presents Bridge Loan of 1.5 billion Dollars to Boost Partnership with Sudan

– France announced its provision to a bridge loan of 1.5 billion dollars to assist Sudan in strengthening the partnership between the two countries.

This was announced in the opening sitting of the Paris Conference in Support of Democratic Transformation in Sudan, which was held Monday morning in Paris.

The conference aims to fully normalize Sudan with the international community and enlighten foreign investors, the private sector and bankers about the economic reforms adopted by the government of Sudan, in addition to highlighting on the investment opportunities in Sudan at the public and private sectors.

The French Minister of Finance has called on the investors and the participating companies at the inaugural sitting of the Paris Conference to return to operate and invest in Sudan and to contribute to the settlement of its debts.

He pointed out that France will contribute to enhancing the skills and the necessary steps in the fields of increasing electricity production and strengthening public administration, so that the environment be suitable to improving the business and economic structures and continuing the economic reforms initiated by the transitional government.

He affirmed France support to the Sudanese people for achieving prosperity, adding that the situation is still fragile and similar to situations in many countries.

He said that France has previously participated in supporting the Sudanese family with an amount of 60 million euros to strengthen the Sudanese economy, a matter that h confirms that France is working in the right direction.

The French Minister of Finance has spoken about his country’s support for the Central Bank of Sudan by strengthening the banking systems, the procedures for equilibrating the exchange rate, easy access to finance and the reform to the political institutions, adding that France will continue to support Sudan to address all these issues.

He referred to additional serious steps to support the action plans related to the settlement of Sudan debts
