FM holds virtual meeting with African ambassadors accredited to Sudan

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mariam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi today held a virtual meeting with ambassadors of the member states of the African Union that are accredited to Sudan, in the presence of Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Prof. Yasir Abbas.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs presented a thorough briefing to the African ambassadors on the outcome of the round of negotiations which was held in Kinshasa  recently, affirming Sudan’s stance calling for reaching a binding legal agreement between the parties prior to start of the second filling of the dam by Ethiopia.

Dr. Al-Mahdi pointed out that Sudan looks forward to African countries support for reaching comprehensive solutions that are acceptable to all parties.

The Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, on his part, briefed the African diplomats on the proposed technical procedures at the talks, indicating that Sudan presented proposal on quartet mediation in a view to reaching a speedy agreement, reaffirming importance of presence of the political will for realizing the aspired gains from the dam  for the three parties.
