European Union Affirms its Support to Transitional Period and Governance Conference

The European Union has affirmed its support to the transitional period and the proposed Governance Conference in Sudan technically and materially.

In a press statement after her meeting Wednesday at the ministry with the European Union Ambassador to Sudan, Robert van den Dool, the Minister of Federal Government, Buthaina Ibrahim Dinar, said that the European Union has expressed its full readiness to support holding the Governance Conference in Sudan.

She indicated that the EU Ambassador visited the ministry to be informed on the arrangements for convening the conference, explaining that several friendly countries, the European Union and international institutions are supporting the Governance Conference in Sudan.

She referred to completion of the first phase (the technical phase), which ended by holding technical workshops in the Friendship Hall, prior to implementing the second phase, which aims to take the opinions of the Sudanese people from the localities and the capitals of the states.

Buthaina indicated that there is a technical team that moved today to all the states of Sudan to stand with the technical committees that supervise the workshops on the nature of papers, axes, and topics addressed during the workshops, and to take the opinions of the Sudanese people.

On his part, the European Union Ambassador to Khartoum affirmed the European Union support for the transitional period and transition in Sudan and the Conference of the Governance System in Sudan, and the Juba Agreement for the Peace in Sudan and making it a comprehensive agreement for all parties, the transition and elections.
