EU Vows to support Peace and Stability in Darfur

Al-Fasher, (SUNA) – EU High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell Fontelles, on Monday, vowed the joint work with the Transitional Governmen to realize stability and development in the country.

The EU official who arrived, Sunday, in Al-Fasher, accompanied by a number ambassadors and EU officials, has described the change took place in Sudan as distinguished and unique as it embodied the slogan of the revolution (Freedom, Peace anf Justice), affirming the EU Commission support to the Transitional Government to realize peace and stability and work for improvement of humanitarian situations in Darfur.

The EU delegation arrived in Al-Fasher to inspect the overall situations in Darfur and to get aquainted with human needs and priorities to back up the process of peace and stability in Darfur.

Borrell , during the meeting he held with the government of North Darfur, headed by the Acting Governor of the State, Maj.General, Malik Al-Tayeb Khojali reiterated the EU Commission concern over dealing with the situation in Darfur , especially, the return of the displaced and the refugees, the provision of the humanitarian needs, besides, working with the government to support peace and democratic transformation and the economic reform.

Meanwhile, Khojali affirmed the stability of the security situations in different areas in the state.

“The state shifted from the relief, emergency and receiving aid stage, to the reconstruction and rehabilitation stage” he said.

He called on the EU more support for his government to enable it to strem line the situations of the displaced and the refugees, reviewing his government efforts to facilitate the movement and procedures of the voluntary organizations and the UN agencies with out restrictions.
