East Sudan Negotiation Suspended for Three Weeks

Juba, (SUNA)-The South Sudanese mediation team has given representatives from East Sudan three weeks to convene their own conference to settle internal organizational differences and then come back to Juba for negotiation devoted to Eastern Sudan within the on talking Sudanese-Sudanese talks.

Head of the mediation and Advisor of South Sudan President for Security Affairs, Tott Gulwak, on Monday said the postponement of the negotiations regarding eastern Sudan track after it was opened and after the mediation received the view of East Sudan, was aimed to allow the East Sudan parties to hold an internal conference within three weeks in which they are to reach consensus on points of differences amongst them.

Leading figure from East Sudan groups, Osama Saeed, said in press statements that the Eastern Sudanese parties have tabled their vision regarding the negotiations to the mediation and that the vision contains their stands on political, economic and security fields.

He stated that the political file presents a precise description for crisis of East Sudan. He added that crisis of political, economic and social marginalization that government should work to remove.

On the economic issue, he said, it calls for the establishment of East Sudan Development Fund and East Sudan Bank to be funded domestically, regionally and internationally.

Saeed thanked President of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit for sponsoring the negotiation and as well as the mediation efforts in this connection.
