Dr. Hamdouk: Ousted Regime Contributed To Aggravation of Economic Crisis

Khartoum (SUNA) – The Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, said that the Sudanese economy has been suffering from a severe deterioration in macroeconomic indicators since the secession of South Sudan.

In the paper he presented in the second sitting of the National Economic Conference Saturday on the (The general framework of the inclusive economic democratic development state), Dr. Hamdouk pointed out that the ousted regime has contributed to the aggravation of the economic crisis through the mismanagement of the oil boom and its failure to benefit from it by realizing diversification and sustainability of the economy, a matter that led to many structural imbalances that resulted in the deterioration of the economic, political and security situation, which was reflected in the efficiency of agricultural and industrial production.

He said that the most important challenges facing the Sudanese economy are the deterioration of the financial conditions, the decline of external sector indicators, the high increase in the inflation rates and the challenges in the external debt of Sudan, the high unemployment rates, the low human development indicators, challenges related to financial federalism, the regional disparities and the conditions of displaced people, referring to the challenges related to governance and the weakness of institutions.
