Dr. Hamdouk lauds French role in supporting Democratic Transition

– Transitional Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk has appreciated the French efforts to support the democratic transition in the country, lauding the French President, Emmanuelle Macron for organization of the Conference.

Dr. Hamdouk addressing the inaugural session of the Economic conference for Supporting Democratic Transition in Sudan, in the French capital, Monday, outlined that Sudan heads towards peace, democracy and good governance despite the challenges and difficulties.

“Sudan, after the December Revolution, needs more support to realize the program of the Transitional Period and realization of sustainable peace by reformation of the economic and security sectors inherited from the defunct regime” He said.

 He stressed that Sudan has great opportunities and the people must seize them to meet the challenges, pledging to move forward in strengthening cooperation and overcoming challenges, especially the economic challenge represented in the low tax rate, which represents less than 6%, as well as the low tax collection in addition to the debt issue, which amounts to 60 billion dollars.

He said the revocation of Sudan’s name from the terrorist list represents turning point” We still need to work to reap the fruits of this effort, “stressing that the organization of this conference is part of those efforts.

He reviewed some of the achievements of the Transitional government represented in reforms in the Criminal Law, Public Order Act and ratification of some international agreements.
