Daglo Briefed on Implementation of South Sudan Peace Agreement

The President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, Wednesday received in his office the visiting First Vice – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, and discussed progress of the bilateral relations as well as issues of mutual concern at the regional and international levels and ways to push ahead the cooperation between the two countries to broader horizons.

The First Vice President was briefed by the President Salva Kiir on the progress of the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan, describing Sudan as its guarantor of the peace agreement.

Daglo affirmed in a press statement the necessity of moving forward to complete the implementation of the agreement and overcoming obstacles in a positive spirit by all parties, stressing that positive progress has been made regarding the formation of state councils and the national parliament.

Daglo said that he received assurances from President Salva Kiir regarding the graduation of the integrated forces in a maximum period after Eid al-Adha before the inclusion of the remaining forces.

He urged the southern parties to avoid delay in completing the graduation of the forces on the fixed date, noting that there are joint committees from the Sudanese and South Sudanese sides working to follow up and monitor the implementation of the file of training and graduation of the forces.

Daglo called on all the southern parties to work in a positive spirit to implement the peace agreement.

Meanwhile, the Advisor of South Sudan President, Tut Gulwak, stated that they gave assurances to the First Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council on the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan, pointing to the great progress achieved in implementing all files, including the file of security arrangements, where the forces will be graduated within the next few days
