The Committee for the Dismantling of the Regime of June 30, 1989 and Restoration of Public Money issued on Wednesday evening a press statement in which it clarified details related to the arrest of two detectives who were working at the committee’s Prosecution.
The press statement indicated that one of the newspapers reported a news that was widely circulated by the social media on the detention of two detectives belonging to the committee a result of huge amounts of money found in their bank accounts, explaining that the incident was discovered by the Dismantling Committee, while it was working on the currency speculation file, and a complaint levelled by it.
The Dismantling Committee stated that it has requested the Central Bank of Sudan, as part of its tracking to the movement of funds in suspicious accounts, to provide it with lists of financial analysis of the suspects, indicating that the financial analysis lists revealed that one of the suspects had transferred funds into the account of an officer (M.M.A.), at the rank of captain and belongs to the Minerals Police, and the financial analysis of the movement of the account of a police captain in Minerals Police showed that during the period from August 5 2020 to August 9, 2020 2021 the deposits in this account amounted to 781,435.061071 Sudanese pounds, and the withdrawals amounted to 766,828,109.47 pounds, and the balance in the account was 14,606.952.4 pounds, adding that these amounts are not suitable with the nature of the suspect’s profession and activity.
The press statement pointed out that the Dismantling Committee found it necessary to investigate about the depositors and those who made withdrawals from this account, and it was found that the most prominent depositors were companies working in the field of energy, mining, petroleum services and the establishment of gas stations, and among the natural individuals is (M.A.T.), who is a police Lieutenant delegated to work in the Committee for Dismantling of the June 30, 1989 Regime and Recovery of Public Money, and that he obtains a savings account in one of the banks and that the total dealings in this account exceeded 500,000 pounds, a matter which is not appropriate with the profession and activity of the police officer, and that this account was classified as highly active, as the total deposits during the period from December 31, 2019 to August 8, 2021 amounted to 15,887. 769.84 pounds against 15,569,451.58 pounds
The Dismantling Committee indicated that it then wrote on August 4 to the Financial Analysis Unit regarding the said officers, and the unit responded to it on August 9, 2021 with data regarding the amount and movement of funds in the suspects’ accounts, adding that it has immediately addressed the Ministry of Interior and the Police Forces, a matter which resulted in the arrest of the accused officers, based on the evidence provided by the Dismantling Committee.
Regarding the third police man, the Dismantling Committee’s statement disclosed that actions were taken against him by the concerned Prosecution of the Dismantling Committee as a result of his attempt to transport a car , which was seized due to a report by the Public Prosecution Office, from the headquarters of the Public Prosecution, explaining that this police man falsely claimed that he was tasked to transfer the car to the committee’s headquarters, but the competent committee’s prosecutor confirmed falseness of his claim and handed him over to the competent committee’s Prosecution, which took measures against him.
The Committee for Dismantle the June 30 Regime and Restoration of Public Money said that it has continued to face an organized campaign to distort its image and to disseminate false information about it, indicating that this campaign is supported by the elements of the ousted regime and persons whose interests are linked to them, stressing that such campaigns can not deter the committee from dismantling the state of empowerment and opening the way for the democratic transformation.
