AU affirms support for Sudan’s efforts to implement peace and joining of non-signatories

The Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, affirmed the AU support for all steps to implement the peace agreement in Sudan and efforts aimed at the joining of non-signatories to the agreement.

This came during the meeting of the First Vice President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and today in the Nigerian capital Niamey, with Mr. Moussa Faki, Chairman of the African Union Commission, on the sidelines of his participation in the inauguration of Niger President Mohamed Bazoum.

The First Vice President of the Transitional Sovereign Council commended during the meeting the great role played by the AUC in addressing the African continent issues and its efforts between the parties of the change in Sudan.

Daralo briefed  the head of the AUC on the developments in Sudan, regarding the implementation of the peace agreement, and the formation of the transitional government with the participation of the signatory movements, referring to the formation of the Civilian Protection Forces in Darfur after the exit of the UNAMID mission, stressing on the government’s ability to protect civilians, pointing to the several measures made by the government for the returning of the displaced and refugees voluntarily to their areas.

On his part, the head of the AUC, appreciated the government’s efforts to achieve stability in the country, stressing the support of the AU for all the steps for the implementation of the peace agreement, as well as the efforts aimed at joining the non-signatories.
