Khartoum, (SUNA) – The Assistant Undersecretary at the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Ilham Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed, received at her office Tuesday the Ambassador of Japan to Khartoumو Shinji Urbiyashi.
The Assistant Undersecretary stressed the necessity of strengthening further the bilateral relations between the two countries and pushing them towards broader horizons in the development field via Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and at the direct bilateral level, besides the exchange of visits by the officials in the two countries and reactivating the joint political consultation mechanism.
She explained that the current government is focusing concern for achieving peace in the country and improving economic conditions, calling on the government of Japan to join international efforts to remove Sudan from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.
Ambassador Ilham also pointed to Sudan’s efforts to achieve peace and political settlement in the Republic of South Sudan.
The Ambassador of Japan expressed his country’s desire to promote its cooperation with Sudan in various fields and through JICA, stressing his government’s continued support to Sudan in the next stage.
