Khartoum, (SUNA) – The Spokesman for the Armed Forces, Brig. Gen. Dr. Omer Mohamed Al-Hassan revealed that the committee for the weapons collection, formed according to government decisions, will soon start its work in a new way, while the Armed Forces will be in support to all roles assigned to the committee, pointing to the necessity for work with all the security organs to bring the still hidden weapons to the hands of the regular forces.
The spokesman of the Armed Forces indicated Saturday, in the workshop of (The press freedoms and challenges of the national security)at SUNA’s Forum, that the presence of weapons outside the well-known frameworks in some parts of the country, including the non-regulated vehicles due to the war, adding that the weapons of the armed movements will have a legal justification after the end of the ongoing negotiations in Juba so that the weapons would only be in the framework of the armed forces and other regular forces.
He reiterated the Armed Forces ’commitment to the outcomes of the revolution for laying the foundations for democracy that both military and civilian seek, stressing the opening of the military media for the press.
Regarding the issues of the heavy weapons that were in the hands of the Operations Forces of the Security Apparatus, he said that the Operations Forces had tasks that include the securing of the oil areas, and that these weapons were currently in the hands of the Armed Forces.
The spokesman of the armed forces has emphasized that the Rapid Support Forces are directly affiliated to the Armed Forces Commander in Chief, and work in coordination with the leadership of the Armed Forces.
On the issue of handing over the ousted President Omer al-Bashir to the ICC, if it’s a sovereign or an executive issue, the spokesman responded that the issue now is the former presidents stand before justice and not to hand him over.
