Juba, South Sudan (SUNA) – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Lieutenant General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, has renewed Sudan’s aspiration to support of the international community to removing its name from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.
In his speech Saturday in the ceremony celebrating the final signing of the Sudanese peace, Al-Burhan said that what has been achieved is a motivation for everyone to stand beside Sudan to remove its name from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism and take everything that would preserve its unity.
Al-Burhan congratulated the Sudanese people on signing peace and called for preserving it by doubling production and deepening the spirit of coexistence to achieve the slogans of the revolution: freedom, peace and justice.
He vowed that there would be no return to war and no deviation from the path of peace, affirming the government’s determination to implement it fully in all tracks in terms of security arrangements and political and economic issues.
He said that the results of the peace agreement are considered as support for the transitional period, expansion of the base of participation and the smooth transition towards a state of justice, citizenship and democracy.
Al-Burhan stressed that signing of the peace agreement is a great day in the march of Sudan and fulfillment of the most important demands and slogans of the glorious revolution, in which the revolutionaries paid their blood for realizing a long dream by the Sudanese people.
He explained that the agreement is backed by the support of the Sudanese people, which enhances its chances of success. However, he said that it will not be complete without joining of Al-Hilu and Abdel-Wahid, which we hope will be soon.
He saluted the government and people of the Republic of South Sudan for their merit in achieving peace in Sudan. He praised the efforts of brotherly and friendly countries, regional and international organizations, the United Nations, the African Union, the European Union and the Arab League.
