The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant-General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, returned to the country this evening after a successful two-day visit to the Republic of Turkey in response to the official invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Maryam Al-Sadig Al-Mahdi, noted in a press statement, that the visit came in the framework of the strong historical relations between the two countries , and the common desire to expand horizons of cooperation between them after Sudan’s glorious December revolution, its openness towards the world to achieve the interests , stability and security of the Sudanese people, which is the revolution’s policy and principles stipulated in the constitutional document.
She noted that the visit has clearly affirmed the Turkish leadership’s interest in Sudan and its respect for the choices of the Sudanese people, its support for the transitional government, and the firm desire to build strong relations based on a strategic vision for a win-win equation.
During the visit, Al-Burhan held a bilateral meeting with the Turkish President and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and signed a number of agreements in the military, foreign, economic, agricultural, media and energy fields.
Meanwhile, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Finance met with the Director of the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency, and it was agreed to activate the bilateral mechanisms between them, and a timetable was set to accomplish what was agreed upon.
The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant-General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, was accompanied during the visit by Defense Minister Lieutenant-General Yassin Ibrahim Yassin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Maryam Al-Sadig Al-Mahdi, the Finance Minister Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Al-Taher Ismail Harbi, Director of General Intelligence, Lieutenant-General Jamal Al-Din Abdel-Majid, and a number of state officials.
