Khartoum (SUNA) – The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, has called for setting a long-term strategic vision with specific objectives in terms of quantity and timing to address the economic crisis with adherence to the optimal use of resources and the combating of corruption.
In his address to the opening sitting of the National Economic Conference Saturday at the Friendship Hall, Lt. Gen. Al-Burhan stressed the importance of diagnosing to the symptoms and causes of the problem, avoiding temporary painkillers and moving to the growth stage.
He said that the peace agreement signing peace is an opportunity that should be invested to address the economic crisis in the country, adding that there are internal and external opportunities that must be exploited to get out of the crises.
He stressed that peace enables us to work together to reform the economy and what was spoiled by the former regime, indicating that peace also provides opportunity to delete Sudan from the list of states sponsoring terrorism, integrate into the international community, enhance the economy and rebuild foreign relations in a way that ensures the national interest.
Al-Burhan pointed out that the country has continued to suffer from an economic deterioration that reached its peak and the citizen’s suffering increased greatly, a matter that necessitates searching for reform internally and externally.
He renewed the government’s keenness to implement the recommendations of the National Economic Conference, affirming that “the Sudanese people have led a great revolution that makes us confident that we will take the country to safety”.
He saluted the martyrs, women, men and young men and women who adhered to patriotism and remained patient with slowness of the government steps in realizing the future for which they sacrificed.
He also saluted the conference organizers and the revolutionary youth who laid the foundation for the building of a new Sudan.
