Urgent measures against shooting peaceful protestors

The Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk has called for an emergency meeting today, Wednesday May 12-2021 to follow up the implementation of the procedures included in the Prime Minister’s statement which issued early today, on the use of live ammunition against the peaceful protestors before the Army’s HQs which led to the martyrdom of two persons and a number of injured in the anniversary of breaking up the Army HQs sit-in and the other sit-ins in the states.

At the outset of the meeting, the cabinet heard to a report on Yesterday’s incidents presented by the Ministers of Defense and Interior.

The Minister of Defense briefed the ministers on the details of the painful incidents, expressing the regret of the military institution over the killing of the two martyrs.

The Minister of Defense affirmed that the Armed Forces had placed all those accused of shooting the peaceful demonstrators under arrest, in preparation for the perpetrators of the crime to be brought to justice within a few days.

The cabinet decided to take urging decisions, top of which, Summoning the Independent National Committee to investigate the incidents, facts and violations that took place on June 3, 2019 near the General Command.
